What is a headshot, and why do I need one?

A portrait photograph professionally taken for acting, corporate of modelling. It focuses on the head, shoulder and upper body.It is a crucial tool for actors and business professionals to showcase their unique personality and brand. Casting decisions are often made based on the actor’s headshot, making it an essential part of an actor’s portfolio.

Why do I need a professional headshot photographer? Can’t I just take a selfie or use a friend’s camera?

Professional headshot photographers are trained to capture you in the best light; both literally and figuratively. We understand the standards required, provide friendly and relaxed environment, offer direction for posing and produce high quality images that helps build your brand and reputation, standing out in what is a highly competitive industry.

What should I wear for my headshot session?

You should wear clothing that is clean, lint free, neat, and appropriate for the industry or purpose of the headshot. Solid colours, non reflective options are our recommendations, fine patterns or other company logos should be avoided.

How long does a headshot session last?

Our headshot session is typically 1 - 2 hours long; allowing for up to 3 change of outfits, different poses, lighting set-ups and creation of diverse portfolio of images.

Do you have a studio?

I have a studio in Charlton, Royal Borough of Greenwich. We are also equipped for location shoots at the client’s premises or outdoors.

I am uncomfortable in front of camera, is this a problem?

Right from when you first make contact, I will create a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere that will last beyond the booking. My relaxed style enables client’s of any personality to have an amazing and fulfilling time in the sessions.

Are the images edited?

Absolutely! We provide you with high-resolution digital files suitably sized for casting submissions, acting reels/portfolios or corporate websites.

Should I have makeup done for my headshot?

My female clients generally have their makeup done before arriving.However, I can also provide you with an experienced makeup and hair stylist who specialises in headshot sessions to enhance your look and make you feel confident throughout the session.

What is the usage rights?

I retain the copyright to all images taken during the session, this is a standard practice with photographers. However, you are free to use all the images I provided however you like, as much as you like, across your website, social media channels, marketing materials, or anywhere else but you won’t be able to sell them on, as they don’t come with a re-sale license.

How can I book a session?

In the first instance, I recommend a phone call to discus your requirements and availability. Once you are ready to book your session, I’ll need a deposit (50% of the booking fee) to secure the date. The remainder is due on the day before or after the session.
